First, we would like to thank Axinite Digicinema Inc. for inviting us last Friday to the special screening of Foosball: The Unbeatables. Honestly, we are not expecting a lot from this film, but since it is an animated flick, we knew that it has the potential to be an entertaining film.
Amadeo (voiced by Rupert Grint) is a great table football player in their village. When he was a kid, he defeated Flash (voiced by Anthony Head) at a table football game and impresses his childhood friend Lara, whom he secretly likes. 10 years later, Flash returns to the village as an International star and challenged Amadeo into a real football match. With Amadeo running out of options, his miniature foosball players come to life and help him to find a way to defeat Flash in order to save the village.
Juan José Campanella, the Argentinian director behind The Secret in Their Eyes which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards has done it again now with computer animation. He is dedicated to his work, and now brings another masterpiece, which is genuinely appealing to all ages.
The film is such a surprise and pretty entertaining from start to finish. It also has a lot of interesting characters, filled with color and lively voices that create a lot of witty moments. The animation is neat and impressive, which feels like a Pixar made film. Usually, animated films aim a much younger audience but with Foosball: The Unbeatables, we heard a lot of laughs coming from the adults who really enjoyed the humor and story of the film.
Overall, "Foosball: The Unbeatables" is one of the best animated film released this year. It is simple yet the magic lives beyond its imaginative premise. The entertainment value is at full price and is a definite stress reliever for the whole family.
